1. Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)
Topic: Digital Equity and the "Global Commons"
In an Ubuntu framework, access to information is a human right, not a luxury. This committee would focus on bridging the digital divide between the Global North and South, ensuring that the "teamwork" of the future isn't restricted to those with high-speed internet.
The Goal: Moving from intellectual property hoarding to shared digital infrastructure.
2. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
Topic: Ancestral Land Rights and Green Stewardship
The Ubuntu Agenda emphasizes that "leadership" includes being a steward for future generations. This committee would explore how indigenous knowledge and communal land ownership can lead to more sustainable climate action than traditional corporate models.
The Goal: Redefining "progress" to include ecological health and community preservation.
3. The African Union (Regional Body)
Topic: Implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
Since the theme is rooted in African philosophy, it’s only fitting to have a regional body focusing on the continent's most ambitious teamwork project. Delegates would debate how to create economic prosperity through cooperation rather than competition.
The Goal: Developing a blueprint for "Responsible Trade" that protects local workers.
4. Legal Committee (Sixth Committee)
Topic: Establishing a Framework for Restorative Global Justice
Traditional leadership often focuses on "punishing" bad actors. An Ubuntu-inspired Legal Committee would look at Restorative Justice—how can the international community heal after conflict or colonization?
The Goal: Drafting protocols for reparations, truth and reconciliation, and reintegration.
5. Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD)
Topic: Ethical AI and Algorithmic Bias
If we are all connected, then a bias in an algorithm affects the dignity of everyone. This committee would task teens with creating a "Code of Ethics" for AI that prioritizes human empathy and collective well-being over purely efficient automation.
The Goal: Ensuring the "Global Team" isn't divided by biased technology
